The European Federation of Organisations in Medical Physics (EFOMP) was founded in 1980. The current membership covers 35 national organisations and 3 affiliated national organisations which together represent more than 5000 physicists and engineers in the field of Medical Physics. All EFOMP actions are based on its constitution, which also defines the structure of the organisation.
Aims and purposes of EFOMP are cast into the mission statement and its Policy Statements; as well as in the Malaga Declaration.
EFOMP supports Meetings, Congresses and Courses through sponsorships. and recognizes outstanding work that individual members of NMO's contribute to its aim through awarding the EFOMP medal or honorary membership. See here for the current honorary members and the previous medal awards.

EFOMP encourages its members to engage in the public consultation of the European Commission on the proposed document for the revision of RP 91 about acceptance criteria for radiological equipment.This consultation process gives the opportunity to comment on the final draft report. The deadline for the return of comments is 30 June 2010.
